How this scanner works
Whether you upload an image or use your camera, the decoding happens entirely inside your browser using your device's own processing power. No image or video frame is ever uploaded to a server — the same privacy approach used by every generator tool on this site.
Point your camera at a printed or on-screen QR code, or upload a screenshot or photo that contains one, and the decoded content appears instantly once it's found.
Frequently asked questions
Is my photo or camera feed uploaded anywhere?
No. Decoding happens locally in your browser using JavaScript. Nothing is sent to a server, logged, or stored.
Why isn't it detecting my QR code?
Make sure the whole code is visible and in focus, with enough plain border (the "quiet zone") around it. Low contrast, heavy glare, or a very small/blurry image are the most common reasons a code fails to decode.
Can I scan a WiFi QR code with this?
Yes — if the code encodes WiFi credentials, the scanner recognizes the format and displays the network name and password directly instead of raw text.
Does this work on mobile?
Yes, both the camera and upload options work on modern mobile browsers. If camera access doesn't prompt, check that your browser has camera permission enabled for this site.
